Fiesta 2013 was great! I visited San Antonio and was able to take part in the festivities with The Bedouin Dancers. First we started Saturday morning at the King William Fair parade, and that was a lot of fun. My only distraction was making sure my boobs didn't pop out of my bellydance bra. I made the bra myself, and the main strap needed to be tightened a bit. I had practiced the night before, all was fine, but I think I stretched it a little. Here are some of us at the morning parade.

After the morning parade we had some tents sent up at the fair and performed some dances for the passers by, and that was fun. The Bedouin Dancers are a group of belly dancers who welcome anyone who take the classes to perform if they are comfortable to do so. A great group of ladies here!

Natalie and her sister Mindy (below) are ladies I have known for awhile, and they have been with the Bedouins for years. We hung out all day after the fair and before the Fiesta Flambeau parade. I don't have any great photos of that parade, but it was incredibly fun. It was said there were over 700,000 spectators, all participants had lights decorating our costumes, so it was quite a show. Toward the end of the parade a Texas-sized storm came through dumping so much rain on us that the parade just ended with everyone running to their cars and our costumes were so drenched with rain that it was hard to walk, but no matter. We all survived and in retrospect had a great time.

I plan on continuing with belly dancing for as long as I can, whether it be in San Antonio or wherever I am traveling. As a nomad I think street performance suits me well, and there are always surprises. I will be setting up on the side of the road again soon and will post back here when I can get online. Til next time!
